Overview In this role you lead accounting and reporting for a diversified investment portfolio within Yale's Controller's Office. You'll develop GAAP-aligned policies, assess new guidance, and analyze complex investment transactions to ensure proper treatment. You will oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual investment schedules and year-end close, while strengthening controls and collaborating with auditors and cross-functional partners. Your work provides senior leaders with insights to monitor and mitigate investment-related risk, shaping Yale's investment governance and reporting.
Responsibilities- Oversee accounting policies and procedures for the investment portfolio
- Evaluate and implement new accounting guidance
- Analyze complex investment transactions and determine appropriate accounting treatment
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual investment support schedules and year-end close
- Strengthen internal controls around investment accounting
- Serve as primary point of contact for auditors on investment accounting matters
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners
- Provide reporting and insights to senior leadership on investment risk and performance
Key requirements- Extensive knowledge of financial accounting, reporting, and internal control concepts
- Collaborative, strategic, adaptable with strong leadership and stakeholder-management skills
- Ability to navigate a large, decentralized, complex environment and interact with very senior leaders
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Proven ability to identify and drive process improvements and organizational change
- Preferred CPA and/or public accounting experience and advanced degree in accounting
