Overview As Senior Accountant, you will manage day-to-day accounting for private foundations and corporate community programs, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance. You'll lead multi-entity month-end and year-end closes, support audits and tax filings, and oversee cash and receivables. You'll partner with external tax preparers and auditors to maintain data integrity across entities. Responsibilities- Manage daily accounting operations for private foundations and corporate community programs, including reporting, audits, tax support, and reconciliations
- Lead month-end and year-end close across multiple foundations with accruals and journal entries
- Oversee fundraising and donation receivables, ensuring complete and accurate recording
- Conduct monthly financial reviews and reporting to validate data integrity and correct coding across entities
- Prepare and review recurring account reconciliations for multiple legal entities
- Support state and federal tax reporting, coordinating with external tax preparers
- Coordinate and support annual audits, including schedules and auditor inquiries
- Assist with banking relationships and ongoing cash management
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; Master's degree in accounting and/or CPA licensure
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience with nonprofit or private foundation exposure
- Knowledge of GAAP, month-end close, and accrual accounting
- Experience supporting external audits and preparing Form 990-PF, Form 990-T, and related state filings
- Experience with general ledger and accounting systems, including Workday Financial Management
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, SUMIF, pivot tables, complex formulas)
- Familiarity with AI tools and emerging technologies in accounting
- Strong quantitative/analytical abilities and attention to detail
- Excellent organization, deadline management, and multi-entity prioritization
