Overview In this role, you will serve as an academic advisor for program participants within Student Support Services. You will administer and evaluate assessments, and develop Individual Academic and Service Plans to support participant success. You'll coach students in writing, math, and study skills while guiding them through graduate and professional school planning. You will lead workshops, participate in professional development, and support participants' cultural and personal development, with travel as needed.
Responsibilities- Act as academic advisor to program participants
- Administer and evaluate academic and needs assessments
- Create and maintain IASPs for participants
- Provide individual and group coaching in writing, math, and study skills
- Assist with graduate/professional school planning
- Develop and conduct student development/academic/graduation workshops
- Accompany participants to cultural events
- Attend professional development training
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Coordinator
- Travel as required
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in higher education, social work, psychology, or related field
- At least two years of relevant experience in a TRIO program or similar initiative for disadvantaged/at-risk students
- Experience coordinating and supervising project programming and field experiences
- Experience advising on graduate school admissions and financial aid processes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Coaching and mentoring ability
- Organizational and time-management skills
- Experience in creating and managing academic plans (IASP)
- Knowledge of graduate school admissions and financial aid processes
- Experience coordinating student development programs
