Project Manager II, Light Industrial and Data Center Construction

Overview

In this role you drive project outcomes from preconstruction through closeout in commercial and light industrial markets, upholding safety and quality as core values. You act as the client's primary contact, coordinating with owners, architects, engineers, and subs to ensure alignment and trust. You'll manage professional staff on site, control budgets and schedules for profitability, and handle contracts, changes, and close-out activities. You will mentor junior staff and contribute to safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position offers a chance to shape project delivery within Graycor's safety- and people-centric culture.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee project execution from preconstruction to close-out
  • Serve as client primary contact and maintain strong stakeholder relationships
  • Supervise on-site professional staff (Project Engineer/Assistant PM, Field Superintendents, admin)
  • Control budget and schedule to ensure profitability
  • Execute subcontracts, purchase orders, change orders, and contract negotiations
  • Complete close-out requirements and secure final payment
  • Mentor Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers
  • Lead and participate in safety, quality, Lean Construction, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to committee work and policy recommendations
  • Drive new ideas and uphold Graycor values
Key requirements
  • 7+ years of construction operations experience with distribution center or light industrial projects
  • Bachelor degree in construction management, engineering, or related field
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%
  • Proven leadership and communication skills to motivate teams and present to clients
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience constructing a critical-path schedule using scheduling software (Primavera v6)
  • Experience with contract administration (subcontracts, purchase orders, change requests)
