Overview As Chief Claims Officer, Argo Group leads the entire claims function across casualty, property, reinsurance, surety, and workers' compensation. You will shape strategic direction, lead a diverse team, and partner with underwriting, actuarial, finance, risk, and legal to drive profitability and growth. The role focuses on sophisticated coverage analysis, timely resolution, and enterprise-wide claims governance and innovation. This is an on-site, executive-level opportunity with broad impact across the Argo Group.

Responsibilities- Develop and align strategic and operational plans with senior Argo Group executives to achieve growth and profitability targets
- Lead and manage claims teams with performance objectives and metrics to ensure strong service, technical capability, and timely settlements
- Establish and oversee performance metrics and governance for claims across units while driving process and technology improvements
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across people, processes, and technology to optimize claims outcomes and cost efficiency
- Implement and enforce best practices in claims management, including compliance with OFAC, Medicare Reporting, Adjuster Licensing, and SOX
- Provide guidance on claims litigation management and establish an enterprise-wide litigation management unit
- Support claims talent management, retention, and development to ensure ongoing technical excellence
- Collaborate with executive leadership to communicate metrics, trends, and strategic recommendations to stakeholders
Key requirements- Senior management experience in commercial property and casualty claims with national scope (US and Bermuda)
- Strong leadership with a track record of delivering superior results in a diverse claims organization
- Thorough understanding of property and casualty financials, actuarial concepts, and reserve impact
- Experience designing and implementing claims technology solutions and data-driven decision making
- Analytical, metric-driven, and able to develop corporate presentations for executives
- Excellent communication and consensus-building abilities
- Experience in adjudicating and managing a broad claims portfolio (including surety, auto, GL, workers' comp, property, asbestos/environmental, reinsurance)
- JD or equivalent in relevant field; CPCU desirable
