Overview As a Senior Mechanical Estimator, you oversee and prepare lump-sum, unit-rate, and cost-plus estimates to support proposals, projects, and change orders. You coordinate across disciplines during pre-construction and help shape project plans and budgets. You'll collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and Construction teams to ensure accurate, data-driven estimates that enable successful bids and execution. Responsibilities- Prepare and validate cost estimates for proposals, projects, and studies ensuring completeness and accuracy
- Plan, review, and present estimates; coordinate factors across Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and Construction
- Direct, train, and develop subordinates; maintain the estimating database
- Provide technical advice to Project Managers for estimates of varying scope and complexity
- Assess estimate accuracy and recommend contingencies for lump-sum, defined, and interim estimates
- Ensure smooth flow of project assignments within schedules and manpower budgets
- Support independent assessment of estimate accuracy post-completion
- Develop and improve estimating procedures and techniques for the team
- Plan and participate in formal training to enhance estimating capabilities
- Contribute to pre-construction activities including scope reviews, site investigations, and risk assessments
- Identify Value Engineering opportunities and communicate with the Project Execution team
- Participate in QA/QC discussions and site logistics planning
- Develop preliminary Work Packages and assist in Project Scheduling (P6)
