Overview In this role you will independently manage a caseload of higher-exposure and complex insurance defense matters, guiding cases from inception to resolution. You will leverage trial experience, contribute to strategy with partners, and mentor junior attorneys while serving insured clients and internal stakeholders. You'll work with cross-functional teams and external experts to deliver strong outcomes and maintain trusted relationships. Responsibilities- Independently handle higher-exposure and complex litigation matters (Major Case / Complex Claim) across lines of business
- Apply advanced litigation techniques to try cases to verdict or negotiate outcomes
- Conduct advanced legal research and deliver persuasive writing and oral advocacy
- Draft substantive pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and related documents
- Attend court events, depositions, and appointments independently
- Provide analysis and recommendations on file handling strategies to insured clients and partners
- Collaborate with expert witnesses and consultants to develop case strategies and testimony
- Build and maintain internal and external client and business partner relationships
- Provide training, seminars, and legal updates to clients and partners
- Lead and mentor other attorneys and support staff
- Initiate special projects to support office goals and leverage technology and case management tools
- Travel as required for business needs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements- 7+ years of insurance defense litigation experience
- Proven jury trial experience with favorable outcomes
- Strong technical knowledge in practice area(s) and ability to communicate complex information
- Advanced advocacy skills with record of summary judgment and appellate success
- In-depth knowledge of local bench, bar, and jurisdictional practices
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and collaboration skills
- Sound decision making and advanced negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail and urgency
- Flexible and agile mindset to adapt to evolving needs
- Active law license in the state(s) of representation
- Regular courtroom appearance capabilities and ability to travel
