Overview In this role, you partner with SPH leadership to guide academic and general HR policy, compliance, and strategic workforce decisions. You will manage complex faculty and staff matters, lead HR operational initiatives, and drive continuous improvement across the Dean's Office. The position blends policy interpretation, change management, and confidential advisory work to support a high-performing, mission-driven school. A key hook is shaping HR practice to enable scholarly impact and administrative excellence.
Responsibilities- Lead academic personnel policy administration and ensure compliance with university and SPH standards
- Develop and refine academic HR resources and guidance to improve operations
- Provide expert consultation on complex academic personnel matters to chairs and HR managers
- Oversee academic personnel actions (appointments, promotions, tenure, sabbaticals, postdocs, PDRs) for accuracy and timeliness
- Manage Interfolio system governance and training (RPT, Faculty Search, FAR)
- Oversee staff and faculty recruitment for Dean's Office, ensuring equitable, compliant processes
- Advise on workforce planning, organizational structure, and HR risk management for departments
- Lead HR policy implementation, change management, and service delivery improvements
- Monitor employment law compliance, records retention, and policy interpretation across school
- Support data-driven HR metrics development and strategic planning across SPH
- Serve as a liaison on school-wide and university-wide HR initiatives and committees
- Maintain appointment records and data integrity across university systems
- Participate in audits, accreditation activities, and regulatory reporting
- Perform other duties as needed
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of progressively responsible HR experience in a university setting
- 1-2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience
