Overview In this role you will underwrite and manage Accident & Health programs, including K-12, Amateur Sports, Participant Accident, and Outbound Student lines, working with MGUs, program managers, and cross-functional teams. You will assess risk, set pricing, and drive portfolio performance while maintaining underwriting discipline. The role involves collaboration with actuarial, legal, operations, and business development to shape program terms and renewals. You'll monitor performance, generate reports, and support growth initiatives in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities- Underwrite K-12, Amateur Sports, Participant Accident, and Outbound Student programs
- Evaluate cases from MGUs/program managers and determine risk acceptability and coverage levels
- Collaborate with actuarial for approvals on complex opportunities
- Coordinate with program managers and MGAs/MGUs to gather required information for new business or renewals
- Modify MGUs/programs with Legal, Product, Operations, and Business Development
- Develop and maintain relationships with producers and programs
- Set premium rates, issue proposals and letters of intent when appropriate
- Conduct annual portfolio reviews to determine renewal position
- Update and maintain monthly A&H underwriting reports; create ad hoc reports
- Issue policies outside Template authority and ensure proper documentation per AXIS procedures
- Maintain underwriting discipline to achieve target loss and combined ratios
- Manage day-to-day tasks of the risk portfolio and liaise between internal teams and external vendors
- Handle special projects as assigned by A&H leadership
- Maintain digital files with proper documentation, structure, and authorizations
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Mathematics, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance or related field (preferred)
- At least two (2) years Accident & Health underwriting experience
- At least two (2) years of experience with MGAs/MGUs or Program Managers
- Market segment knowledge: Amateur Sports, K-12 & College Students, Volunteer Organizations
- Product knowledge: Accidental Death, Accident Medical Expense, Catastrophic Medical, Disability, Participant Accident, and Out of Country Medical Insurance
- Ability to work with large data sets to evaluate past performance and derive rating metrics
