Overview

In this role you prosecute state felony and misdemeanor cases in Multnomah County, contributing to leading drug courts, diversion programs, and neighborhood prosecution. You will work across intake, misdemeanor trial, or domestic violence units to build legal strategy, advise law enforcement, and represent the State in court. This is a growth-focused opportunity in a mission-driven office that values professionalism, fairness, and diversity. Responsibilities
  • Review police reports and evidence to inform charging decisions across various misdemeanor offenses
  • Advise law enforcement and community members on legal questions and procedures
  • Prepare misdemeanor cases for trial, including strategy development, witness preparation, and drafting motions
  • Participate in case negotiations with defense counsel
  • Appear in court to represent the State in arraignments, trial phases, plea entries, sentencing, and probation hearings
Key requirements
  • J.D. from an accredited law school; bar admission in good standing in Oregon; eligible for reciprocity
  • Active membership in the Oregon State Bar prior to employment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good judgment and organizational skills; ability to work with others and interpret complex instructions
  • Valid driver's license
  • Prior jury trial experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of criminal law practice and rules of criminal procedure (preferred)
  • Resident of Multnomah County (preferred)
