Overview In this role you advise on contracts and insurance, manage risk, and drive compliant, timely agreements within PCL's policies. You collaborate with district and corporate teams to safeguard financial and legal interests while supporting project delivery. You'll lead contract preparation, approval, and disputes, and guide stakeholders through risk and insurance considerations. Responsibilities- Assist with reviewing insurance reports requested by district and corporate offices
- Support financial due diligence to verify payment ability of owners and trade partners
- Manage insurance claims and support legal claims to minimize exposure and maximize recovery
- Enforce adherence to district/company policies on contracts and insurance
- Evaluate and ensure insurance, bonding, and performance securities meet requirements
- Lead contract preparation and execution, escalate disputes as needed
- Provide reporting on open claims (monthly/quarterly)
- Coordinate SDI qualification process and ensure compliance with standards
- Identify, draft, negotiate, and seek approvals for deviations in contracts and supplier/subcontract forms
- Assist with review of bid documents and risk/opportunity management
- Interpret insurance requirements and deliver training/orientation on insurance considerations
- Ensure immediate reporting and prudent handling of mandatory insurance claims
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues
Key requirements- Postsecondary degree or diploma in a related discipline
- Awareness of labor agreements and government legislation related to licensing, payroll, and tax
- Understanding of lien rights, holdbacks release, and prompt payment requirements
- Ability to identify risks/opportunities, draft/negotiate contracts, and mitigate exposure
- Basic knowledge of bid/contract securities and insurance
- Basic knowledge of bid and RFP process
- Understanding of commercial terms of contracts
