Industrial Senior Project Architect

Overview

As Senior Project Architect at HDR in Phoenix, you will lead design and delivery for industrial facilities across markets, guiding teams to develop high-performance, sustainable buildings. You'll partner with project managers to manage scope, schedule, and construction documentation while coordinating cross-disciplinary work and ensuring code compliance. The role blends design excellence with QA/QC, client interaction, and overseeing project phases from concept through construction. Responsibilities
  • Lead planning, design, documentation, and construction administration for multiple building types
  • Chair owner/client and internal meetings and coordinate reviews with governing agencies
  • Manage project teams to deliver construction documents and milestones
  • Coordinate with Project Manager to manage scope and schedule
  • Produce detailed construction documents and lead design activities
  • Direct multidisciplinary team coordination across all project phases
  • Review architectural documents for interdisciplinary conflicts
  • Perform QA/QC and cross-discipline technical reviews
  • Write/edit architectural specifications
  • Coordinate addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders; incorporate changes into documents
  • Provide construction observation and contract administration as needed
  • Lead site work sessions with Client Representatives and team
  • Perform other duties as needed
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience
  • Registered Architect
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project Schedule)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Autodesk Revit and familiarity with related tools and process
  • Demonstrated graphic presentation skills
  • Experience in preparing and laying out architectural contract documents and specifications
  • Strong knowledge of codes and planning skills
  • Active participation in employee-owned culture
