Overview In this role you oversee all administrative and technical aspects of heavy civil construction projects, from bid preparation to client acceptance. You focus on site development, grading, and clearing, driving on-time and on-budget delivery. You lead planning, estimation, and supervision while coordinating with clients, AE representatives, and contractors. You ensure performance aligns with design, budget, and schedule within corporate policy. This position offers meaningful impact on project outcomes and cross functional collaboration.
Responsibilities- Establish objectives, policies, procedures, and standards within policy framework
- Monitor progress and keep on-site teams aligned to schedule and budget; take corrective actions
- Represent the company in project meetings and contribute to labor negotiations and strategy
- Manage contract financials to protect company interests and maintain client relationships
- Conduct initial client assessments to define scope and resources
- Prepare comprehensive project estimates from drawings, specs, takeoffs, and contracting requirements
- Oversee construction to align with design, budget, and schedule; interface with client, AE, and other contractors
- Plan and coordinate onsite activities including scheduling, engineering, material control, and directing on-site administrative staff
- Supervise crafts and contractors per contract; provide technical guidance on drawings and methods
- Initiate and manage extra work estimates and change orders
- Ensure productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials/equipment, and contractual performance
Key requirements- Strong knowledge of construction, design, finance, and management
- Ability to apply innovative management techniques to maximize performance
- Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, and activities
- Minimum five years of construction management, estimating, and/or craft supervision experience in similar facility construction
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction aspects including technology, equipment, methods, craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations, engineering, estimating, schedules, and safety
