Overview As Senior Attorney at HESC, you will provide legally sound guidance to executive staff and managers, shaping agency positions on litigation and policy matters. You will review contracts and MOUs, support procurement processes, and respond to inquiries from legislative offices. You'll guide bankruptcy matters and support cross-functional, fast-paced legal work to protect the agency's mission. Responsibilities- Provide legal advice to executive staff and managers on mission-critical issues
- Review and draft contracts and MOUs for procurement and interagency work
- Research inquiries from legislative staff and respond to executive correspondence
- Develop agency litigation strategy in consultation with General Counsel and AG office
- Review bankruptcy filings via PACER and advise staff on bankruptcy matters
- Support special projects and other duties as needed
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance and risk mitigation
Key requirements- Law school graduation and/or eligibility for NYS Bar Admission
- Admission to NYS Bar (for Senior Attorney level) or 12-24 months post-admission experience
- 55b/c eligibility and/or willingness to pursue designation
- Experience in-house or in the public sector preferred
