Overview In this role you will underwrite a diverse, complex book of business to meet profitability, growth, and expense targets. You'll manage and grow portfolios within established guidelines while marketing and servicing clients, and support regional leadership in strategic planning. You will lead and develop the underwriting team, collaborate with cross-functional partners, and help drive financial planning and risk selection. This is a hands-on, growth-oriented role with significant impact on client relationships and portfolio performance.

Responsibilities- Execute business plans for portfolio development, management and expansion
- Perform account analysis including submission review, pricing analysis, and terms/conditions setting
- Prioritize submissions to identify high-profit opportunities
- Authorize quotes, binders and invoices per guidelines; ensure timely policy issuance
- Craft wordings and endorsements for legal authorization
- Monitor portfolio progression against projections on a quarterly basis
- Attend client/broker meetings and industry events to foster relationships
- Supervise and develop underwriting team members and delegate duties
- Coordinate underwriting processes and provide leadership to team
- Support strategic goals and budgets with senior management
- Liaise with actuarial, claims, Legal, Accounting, IT and other departments for pricing, market concerns and synergy
- Stay current with major market and industry developments
- Monitor cash-flow and PML analysis for bound contracts
- Assist in performance and salary reviews for the team
Key requirements- 4-year college degree (graduate-level preferred)
- Professional insurance qualification (ACII, CPCU or similar)
- Minimum 7+ years underwriting experience (12+ years for senior specializations)
- At least 2 years supervisory/management experience
- Demonstrable experience underwriting complex international projects
- Proven track record in developing and maintaining accounts
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage competing priorities
- Excellent negotiation skills and commercial acumen
- Highly computer literate with advanced underwriting systems
- Fluent in English; other languages beneficial
