Overview

In this role you will apply AI-forward practices to streamline matter management and improve financial performance. You'll work with attorneys and business teams to optimize budgets, forecasting, and reporting while advancing standardized project management methods. The position sits at the intersection of legal operations and technology, enabling better decision-making and matter outcomes. This is a collaborative, cross-functional role with a strong focus on efficiency, analytics, and client value.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage matter budgets, forecasts, and financial plans for client use; prepare budget updates for attorneys, clients, and leadership
  • Monitor budget-to-actuals, WIP, realization, fees, collections, and variances; propose corrective actions
  • Partner with attorneys to manage matter scope, staffing, financial risks, and client expectations throughout the lifecycle
  • Collaborate with Pricing, Finance, Billing, and other business services to support budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
  • Drive adoption of consistent legal project management practices, reporting tools, and matter management processes; support enhancements to financial systems and technology
  • Utilize AI-enabled tools and firm technology to improve PM processes, efficiency, and outcomes
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Five+ years in legal project management, legal finance, pricing, or law firm financial operations
  • Experience developing matter budgets, forecasts, and performance reporting
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and law firm financial systems such as Aderant or Elite
  • Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, data analysis, modeling, and visualization
  • Proven ability to optimize processes, leverage technology, and enhance reporting while driving consistency across matters
  • Ability to build trusted relationships and collaborate with attorneys, clients, and business professionals
  • Strong communication and relationship management
