Overview In this role you advise leading clients on complex environmental compliance, enforcement, and remediation matters. You will work within a nationally recognized Environmental & Land Use team in Washington, DC, collaborating with cross-functional experts to shape regulatory strategies. You'll handle transactional due diligence, risk assessments, and negotiations with agencies, contributing to impactful environmental outcomes. Responsibilities- Advise clients on compliance with major federal and state environmental statutes (CERCLA and RCRA)
- Represent clients in environmental enforcement proceedings and agency negotiations
- Counsel on environmental aspects of transactions, due diligence, and risk management
- Draft and review environmental reports, submissions, and compliance documents
- Collaborate with technical consultants and engineers to craft strategic solutions
- Support environmental litigation and administrative proceedings as needed
Key requirements- JD from a top-tier law school
- Active Bar Admission in the District of Columbia, in good standing
- 5-7 years of substantive experience in environmental regulatory compliance and enforcement
- Deep familiarity with CERCLA and RCRA
- Experience with hazardous, solid, medical, pharmaceutical, and/or controlled substance waste issues is preferred
