Overview In this role you defend insurer clients in civil litigation arising from automobile and liability claims. You will manage a defense docket, perform coverage and liability analyses, handle discovery and motions, and negotiate resolutions with trial opportunities as needed. You'll work closely with claims handlers to deliver practical, cost-efficient legal solutions. This position offers exposure to diverse auto and third-party claims within a collaborative legal team and a focus on impactful, courtroom-ready advocacy.

Responsibilities- Manage a docket of insurance defense matters from intake to resolution, including auto liability and third-party claims
- Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court filings with persuasive advocacy and compliance
- Oversee all discovery steps: interrogatories, production requests, admissions, document collection, depositions
- Develop and execute motion practice strategies; attend hearings and advocate for insurer clients
- Analyze coverage issues and advise claims handlers on defenses, rights reservations, and indemnity exposure
- Draft and review settlement demands/releases; negotiate resolutions aligned with litigation plan
- Prepare witnesses, experts, and exhibits for trial; collaborate with co-counsel or local counsel as needed; try cases when required
- Maintain timely communication with insurer clients, claims adjusters, and vendors; provide case updates and cost estimates
- Manage case budgets and billing per client guidelines; identify opportunities for cost savings and efficient resolutions
- Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and paralegals to foster a collaborative, professional team environment
Key requirements- J.D. from an accredited law school; admission to PA bar; NJ bar admission a plus
- 3-5+ years of litigation experience with a strong emphasis on insurance defense; auto liability experience preferred
- Expertise in coverage analysis and insurance policy interpretation
- Proven track record in motion practice, discovery management, and courtroom advocacy; trial experience preferred
- Strong legal research, analytical, and persuasive writing skills with professional court filings
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation abilities; able to work with claims adjusters, clients, and experts
