Overview In this role you will serve as a pragmatic legal partner to Roku's ad sales, platform, and publisher services teams, structuring and negotiating complex advertising agreements. You'll advise on data privacy within live deals and help build scalable legal processes that support rapid growth. You will work cross-functionally to translate legal requirements into actionable business guidance while leveraging AI-enabled tools to streamline work. Responsibilities- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of ad tech agreements (publisher/content provider, DSP/SSP, advertiser/agency, data licenses, IOs, vendor/platform)
- Structure master service agreements, data integration arrangements, and vendor contracts for the advertising platform
- Provide data privacy and regulatory advice embedded in commercial transactions and stay current on privacy laws and martech/ad tech developments
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (sales, partnerships, ops, finance, product, engineering, marketing) to serve as a trusted legal partner
- Develop scalable, risk-calibrated processes to enable fast yet compliant deal execution
- Leverage AI-powered tools to accelerate contract review, drafting, and analysis and explore broader AI deployment in workflows
- Translate complex legal requirements into clear business guidance in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
- Explain and frame legal risk in business terms to support decision-making
- Help set standards for the legal function by integrating legal tech and process improvements into daily workflows
- Maintain awareness of IAB terms and related industry standards in ad tech
Key requirements- Deep experience negotiating supply-side and demand-side ad tech agreements
- Strong understanding of digital advertising tech, programmatic ecosystems, and IAB terms
- Proven ability to draft and negotiate advertising data and measurement licenses, including privacy and security provisions
- J.D. from a U.S. accredited law school and active bar membership in New York or California
- Ability to translate legal requirements into actionable business advice in a fast-moving environment
- Cross-functional influence and a track record of navigating matrixed organizations
- Experience with internet/technology/media companies in ad tech or data space
