Overview In this role, you will serve as the Oregon geographic lead for HDR's Building Engineering Services, guiding a multi-discipline design team to support diverse building projects. You'll shape operations, staff development, and market-facing activities while ensuring quality and on-time delivery. You'll collaborate with cross-functional groups to align technical work with client needs and business goals. This leadership role offers the opportunity to impact multiple market sectors and contribute to HDR's inclusive, employee-owned culture.
Responsibilities- Lead a multi-discipline BES design team (Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Control Systems, Fire Protection) across multiple market sectors
- Oversee operations including staff development, morale, workload planning, quality control, schedule adherence, and marketing support
- Develop and monitor technical competencies to meet client needs and market drivers
- Provide project oversight and participate in management reviews; potentially act as Senior/Lead Engineer or Project Manager
- Coordinate with other teams, manage staff and technical service functions, and lead cross-group efforts
- Engage in marketing, planning, proposals, interviews, and local/national collaboration with Area Management and Market Sector Directors
- Ensure work is planned, organized, controlled, and evaluated through proactive project management; implement company policy
- Lead talent selection, training, and management of technical personnel
- Support business growth through cross-functional collaboration and marketing and project production initiatives
- Perform other duties as needed
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree
- A minimum of 10 years experience
- Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Ability to handle multiple assignments
