Overview In this role you drive molecular biology leadership within the Mammalian Expression team to design, develop, and execute high-throughput expression workflows. You will advance integrated synthetic biology pipelines from sequence design to expression-ready constructs, enabling faster gene-to-protein delivery for diverse programs. Collaborating with cross-functional groups, you'll improve automation, data integrity, and construct quality while mentoring the team. Responsibilities- Guide molecular cloning design and delivery of complex plasmid/expressions constructs using Gibson, Golden Gate, and In-Fusion cloning with scalable automation.
- Develop and enhance high-throughput construct generation platforms by integrating robotic systems to reduce cycle time.
- Lead automated sequence verification workflows and manage external CROs to ensure high-quality data.
- Oversee sample quality control to maintain data accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with Research Informatics to standardize nucleic acid data registration and strengthen digital workflow connectivity.
- Supervise and improve the Protein Therapeutics DNA repository for reliable plasmid inventory supporting transfection activities.
- Liaise with external CROs to streamline DNA readiness and timelines.
- Contribute data for publications, patents, and presentations; present findings to teams and senior management; mentor team members.
Key requirements- 8+ years with BS or 6+ years with MS or 0+ years with PhD/PharmD (as listed)
- Ph.D. in molecular and cell biology, biochemical engineering, biological sciences or related, with postdoctoral training and 3+ years industry experience (preferred) or MS with 12+ years or BS with 15+ years experience
- Deep expertise in molecular cloning, DNA assembly and construct design for protein expression; hands-on with Gibson, Golden Gate, In-Fusion
- Experience scaling high-throughput molecular biology workflows; automation experience with robotic platforms
- DNA repository management and plasmid inventory systems
- Experience managing external CROs; cross-functional collaboration with informatics/automation to improve data integrity
- Proficiency with Geneious Prime, GeneData Biologics and other bioinformatics tools; programming/scripting (Python, Excel macros) a plus
