Overview

As a Data Scientist at Ford's Global Data Insight & Analytics (GDIA), you transform complex data into actionable insights and scalable analytics to inform product and cost strategies. You'll work across data science, AI, and analytics in close partnership with technical and business stakeholders to solve high-impact problems. The role supports Ford's AI-first, data-driven decision making and strategic objectives. You'll influence how data translates into decisions that shape mobility and customer value.

Responsibilities
  • Develop AI-driven, testable specifications and architectural guidelines to enable AI coding agents to generate reliable code
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and environment automation on GCP for frequent deployments
  • Design and optimize backend services and data models (BigQuery, PostgreSQL) to support production-scale analytics and AI applications
  • Create scalable data pipelines and collaborate with data scientists on ML pipelines
  • Establish quality controls for AI-generated code (testing, security scans, static analysis)
  • Evaluate emerging AI tools and practices and integrate them into the development workflow
  • Support evolving product requirements with robust, secure backend solutions
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 6+ years of experience in data science, data engineering, or software engineering
  • 3+ years building and operating cloud-based workloads, preferably on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Experience developing data pipelines and CI/CD processes
  • Strong Python programming skills and familiarity with modern data science tools
  • Hands-on experience with AI coding agents and validating AI outputs
  • Solid data modeling with BigQuery and analytical workloads
  • Familiarity with Git, cloud infrastructure, observability, and performance optimization
  • Working knowledge of front-end or full-stack development
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to mentor others
  • Automation mindset to improve efficiency and scalability
