Laboratory Automation Lead

Overview

As Laboratory Automation Lead, you will steer the development and deployment of automation solutions within Zoetis' ADS group to advance assay workflows. You'll partner with scientific teams to translate needs into actionable plans and oversee delivery from planning to execution. You will set quality standards, maintain automated systems, and drive adoption across the team. This role offers a chance to shape next gen automation in veterinary medicine research and work closely with cross functional partners to reduce risks and improve throughput.

Responsibilities
  • Lead automation initiatives by partnering with scientific teams to translate workflow needs into requirements and oversee end-to-end delivery
  • Own operational excellence for automated workflows through monitoring, improvements, and reliability/throughput enhancements
  • Guide technology evaluation and strategy to inform VMRD automation roadmap and investment decisions
  • Define routine instrument QC standards and coordinate preventive maintenance
  • Enable teams via coaching, training, documentation, and user adoption of automated workflows
  • Manage external partnerships with vendors and integrators to accelerate development and reduce delivery risk
  • Drive cross-functional alignment by coordinating automation stakeholders and standardizing practices across VMRD
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in science or engineering with at least 6 years of industry experience
  • Extensive experience programming at least one relevant liquid handler on the market
  • Ability to design user-focused software interfaces based on end-user experience
  • Experience integrating automation instrumentation with inventory management systems
  • Experience in development, validation, and maintenance of liquid handler liquid classes
  • Clear communication (written and verbal)
  • Coaching and mentoring
  • Cross functional collaboration
  • Programming experience with liquid handlers
  • Automation workflow development from requirements to implementation
  • Quality control and preventive maintenance of instruments
