Overview

As a Senior Strategic Mining Engineer, you will provide technical leadership on complex mining projects from study through construction. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop practical, innovative solutions and ensure high-quality engineering outcomes. You drive technical direction, mentor junior staff, and help deliver safe, efficient mine planning and execution. Responsibilities
  • Act as the senior mining engineering technical lead on multidisciplinary projects
  • Lead technical evaluations and studies for surface mining operations
  • Provide direction during concept to detailed engineering
  • Coordinate with mining, civil, geotechnical, structural, mechanical, electrical, process, environmental, and water resources teams
  • Mentor others in mine planning software such as Minesight, Deswik, Datamine, Vulcan
  • Use Python scripting for analysis
  • Lead scheduling optimization using Whittle, MPSO or Minemax tools
  • Review and sign-off NI 43-101, S-K 1300 and JORC compliant reserves reporting
  • Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, specifications, and design packages
  • Perform engineering analyses for mine planning, infrastructure, and project execution
  • Ensure technical quality and regulatory compliance of deliverables
  • Provide guidance to junior engineers and participate in design reviews
  • Support construction engineering activities, field investigations, commissioning, and troubleshooting
  • Ensure work meets client requirements and AECOM standards
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years of relevant experience (or equivalent)
  • Master's degree in Mining Engineering or related field (preferred)
  • 12+ years of progressive mining engineering experience (preferred)
  • QP / CP credentials or PE license (preferred)
  • Super-user experience with Minesight, Deswik, Datamine, Vulcan or similar
  • Expertise in using Whittle software
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary mining projects
  • Experience supporting projects from concept through detailed engineering
