Applied Scientist II, Perception

As an Applied Scientist in Robot Perception, you will develop and deploy cutting-edge perception methods that help robots understand and interact with the real world. You'll advance computer vision and vision-language model capabilities to enable safe, intelligent operation in dynamic environments. Your work bridges research and production, contributing to scalable, real-world robotics-shaping how humans and robots collaborate. You will join cross-functional teams tackling dexterous manipulation, locomotion, and human-robot interaction at scale. • Design, develop, and deploy perception algorithms for robotics systems (detection, segmentation, tracking, depth estimation, scene understanding)
• Lead research initiatives in computer vision, sensor fusion and 3D perception
• Collaborate with robotics engineers, software engineers, and product managers to define perception capabilities
• Drive end-to-end ownership of ML models-from data collection and labeling to training, evaluation, and deployment
• Mentor junior scientists and engineers, promoting technical excellence
• Define and track metrics to measure perception performance in real-world environments
• Publish research findings in top venues and contribute to patents

• PhD in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics or equivalent quantitative field
• 2+ years of building machine learning models for business applications
• Experience with Java, C++, or pother programming languages
• Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning
• Publications at top-tier conferences or journals
