Overview

As an Account Executive Officer in Ocean Marine, you will manage profitability, growth, and retention for a defined book while underwriting complex accounts. You will partner with agents, brokers, and internal teams to build sales plans, identify cross-selling opportunities, and expand our market presence in challenging segments. You drive risk-informed decisions and negotiate to protect profitability in alignment with Travelers' risk appetite. This role offers the chance to influence regional sales strategy and mentor peers in a collaborative, customer-centric culture.

Responsibilities
  • Manage profitability, growth, and retention of a book of business
  • Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability
  • Cultivate relationships with internal partners to create sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities
  • Foster relationships with external partners by meeting agents and brokers to market Travelers products and write/retain accounts within risk appetite
  • Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills
  • Develop and execute agency sales plans and collaborate on region/group sales plans
  • Mentor less experienced Account Executives
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Six to eight years of relevant Ocean Marine underwriting experience
  • Deep knowledge of Ocean Marine products, regulatory environment, and local market
  • Strong critical thinking and timely decision-making aligned with risk appetite
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • CPCU designation
  • Four years of underwriting, claim, operations, risk assessment, actuarial, sales, product, or finance experience (must have)
