Overview In this role you ensure the reliability, security, and upgrade readiness of PCA's relational databases across Oracle RAC 19c, SQL Server, and vendor-supported applications. You'll support 24x7 data availability, optimize performance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data models with business needs. You will drive database improvements in a large manufacturing environment and contribute to PCA's continuous-improvement culture. This is a hands-on position focused on stability, recovery, and scalable data solutions.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain efficient physical database models to meet business requirements
- Provide 24x7 database support including maintenance, capacity planning, recovery and data integrity
- Monitor and optimize performance and proactively resolve defects
- Interface with business teams during data modeling to ensure optimal structures
- Work with software vendors to ensure applications meet user expectations
- Prioritize and manage tasks/projects using project methodologies
- Serve as database advisor to application development and plant system engineers
- Follow PCA policies and contribute to service delivery and customer value
- Support and communicate with cross-functional teams to improve service delivery
Key requirements- Bachelor in Computer Science or related degree
- Multi-year experience with Oracle 19c in a client-server environment
- Strong database optimization, troubleshooting and performance tuning
- Knowledge of Oracle RAC, database partitioning, Oracle Active Data Guard, RMAN, Linux and Windows
- SQL and PL/SQL proficiency; basic TCP/IP networking knowledge
- Experience with Oracle RMAN backups/restores in RAC/ADG environments
- Experience with Windows EE/SE editions and Linux environments for Oracle
- Experience collaborating with Oracle Support on complex issues
- Strong problem solving, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently and in teams; willingness to provide support evenings/weekends
