Front Line Manager - Property Claims

Overview

In this role you lead the day-to-day operation and development of a frontline claims team within Aviva Canada's Property Claims. You will coach, develop, and engage staff, balancing people leadership with technical claims expertise. You will use data to drive performance, manage risk, and improve customer outcomes. The role operates in a hybrid model with in-office collaboration. It offers growth opportunities within a supportive, inclusive culture.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day operation and development of frontline claims handlers
  • Coach, train, and support team members to meet career goals and performance targets
  • Provide honest, timely feedback and set clear expectations
  • Manage change initiatives and business transformation with the team
  • Apply risk management controls to protect operations
  • Foster technical excellence through mentorship and ongoing learning
  • Use data to monitor performance and drive improvement initiatives
  • Ensure QA processes are followed and developmental opportunities are addressed
  • Understand and mitigate claims risks and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Take ownership of the team's results and impact on customers and business performance
Key requirements
  • CIP or FCIP designation
  • 5+ years of claims or insurance experience with strong Property Claims knowledge
  • 1-2 years of supervisory or people leadership experience
  • Experience leading teams through change and transformation
  • Proven performance management, coaching, and career development track record
  • University degree, college diploma, or equivalent combination of education and Property Claims experience
  • Call Centre, First Notice of Loss, or Catastrophic Event experience is an asset
  • Technical competency in Personal Property insurance
  • Ability to coach and develop technical claims expertise and foster continuous learning
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, strong computer proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
