Overview In this role you drive preconstruction efforts for water projects, acting as the primary contact for owners and design teams on negotiated bids. You lead bid processes, manage budgets and schedules, and guide design decisions to align with contractual obligations. You will build relationships with stakeholders, mentor staff, and ensure risk and compliance programs are in place. Responsibilities- Act as Bid Captain for negotiated bids and lead estimate/bid process team meetings
- Build and maintain relationships with owners, subcontractors, vendors, and internal clients; represent McCarthy on site and at industry events
- Track and manage project budget throughout the lifecycle
- Prepare qualifications aligned with contractual obligations and route documents for legal review
- Implement and oversee preconstruction and construction schedules
- Contribute to training and development of project staff; manage risk and safety/EOE programs
- Manage and organize all documentation/deliverables for presentation to the project owner
- Participate in design and coordination meetings, offering alternative solutions and aiding design decisions
- Support prequalification processes, responses to RFPs/RFQs, and buyout log management
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of estimating, design management, or field management experience
- In-depth knowledge of construction principles/practices
- Experience on municipal and/or industrial water and wastewater projects
- Experience with alternative delivery projects including cost modeling, cost trending, and GMPs
- Experience estimating self-perform disciplines (labor and material pricing)
- Proven experience managing preconstruction for a range of projects
- Experience dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors, and/or self-perform work
- Experience leading teams and maintaining relationships with external entities and subcontractor communities
- Self-starter with strong motivation and adaptability
