Overview As a Senior Estimator at Stantec, you will lead multi-discipline cost estimates and schedules for large infrastructure projects, with a focus on hydroelectric generation and electrical infrastructure. You'll coordinate estimators across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and controls disciplines to deliver defensible, integrated estimates. You'll work on projects ranging from about $1 million to $2 billion and partner with design teams to shape project scopes and execution. Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate multi-discipline cost estimates and construction schedules
- Collaborate with other estimators to develop estimates and schedules
- Develop detailed estimates for generators, substations, switchyards, HV systems, SCADA, and related facilities
- Coordinate input parameters and validate takeoffs and quantities
- Compile information from all estimating disciplines into one cost estimate
- Develop estimate execution plans and labor-force work plans
- Prepare basis of cost estimate reports for end users
- Establish site-specific estimating criteria and wage rates
- Perform quality control of construction documents and provide design ideas
- Support vendor, supplier, and subcontractor pricing and quotations inclusion
- Provide support for procurement, change and claims valuation and negotiations
- Prepare construction logistics plans and seek innovative solutions
- Interface with management and clients for estimating tasks
- Identify and quantify project risks and opportunities for cost/schedule analyses
- Review design documents to identify pricing risks and opportunities
- Prepare constructability reviews and act as primary cost estimating contact for clients
- Maintain awareness of industry trends and apply lessons learned to improve estimates
Key requirements- Extensive technical knowledge of cost/estimating and construction practices
- Experience estimating hydroelectric, utility, renewable energy, transmission, and power infrastructure projects
- Expertise in hydroelectric facilities, substations, protection and control, SCADA, and related systems
- Proficiency with estimating platforms (InEight, Sage Timberline, On-Screen Take-Off, MCASES MII, IPE, HCSS)
- Experience with scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project)
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally for site work
- Proven track record of coordinating multi-discipline teams
- Strong communication, leadership, and client-facing skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in relevant field; minimum 10 years in estimating/construction
