Overview As a Senior Estimator at Stantec, you will develop and coordinate cost estimates for building and facility projects, guiding a team of discipline estimators across multiple project disciplines. You will manage estimates for projects ranging from about $1 million to $2 billion, spanning commercial, institutional, industrial, and infrastructure-adjacent facilities. Your role combines technical estimating expertise with leadership, ensuring timely, accurate, and defendable cost plans. You will contribute to project development milestones and drive value through multi-discipline coordination and innovative estimating approaches.

Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate development of multi-discipline cost estimates and construction schedules
- Develop detailed estimates for architectural systems, building envelope, interiors, finishes, doors/hardware, specialties, vertical circulation, steel, concrete, foundations, and related components
- Collaborate with other estimators to build comprehensive estimates and schedules
- Coordinate input parameters and validate material takeoffs and construction quantities
- Aggregate estimating disciplines into a single cost estimate and create execution plans
- Prepare labor-force work plans and basis of cost estimate reports
- Establish site-specific estimating criteria, including wage and productivity rates
- Perform quality control of construction documents and propose design/constructability improvements
- Support procurement, pricing activities, and incorporate quotations into estimates; assist with change and claims valuation
- Coordinate constructability reviews and interface with management and clients for scope alignment and defensible estimates
- Stay informed on industry trends and apply lessons learned to improve estimate quality and competitiveness
- Identify and quantify project risks and opportunities and contribute to risk analyses
Key requirements- Extensive technical knowledge of cost/estimating, construction practice, and engineering design
- Experience estimating buildings and facilities across multiple sectors (commercial, industrial, institutional, etc.)
- Strong expertise in architectural/structural scopes (steel, concrete, foundations, envelope, finishes, etc.)
- Multi-discipline estimating experience with coordination of civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls, and specialty scopes
- Advanced understanding of contract methods and their impact on estimating
- Experience with estimating software: InEight Estimate, Sage Timberline Estimating, On-Screen Take-Off, MCASES MII, IPE, HCSS (or similar), and scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project)
- Willingness to travel domestically and potentially internationally
