LHH is partnering with a valued law firm client in search of a Tax Paralegal. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented tax professional with experience preparing fiduciary, estate, gift, and individual tax returns. The Tax Paralegal will work closely with the tax and estate attorneys and other legal professionals to support tax compliance, planning, and client service matters.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and review fiduciary, estate, gift, and individual income tax returns
- Assist with additional business tax filings as needed
- Gather, organize, and analyze financial records and supporting documentation
- Research federal and state tax laws and monitor regulatory updates
- Support attorneys with tax planning and compliance matters for estate and trust clients
- Coordinate with clients, internal team members, tax authorities, and outside professionals
- Respond to tax-related inquiries and assist with resolving filing or documentation issues
- Support tax audits and examinations by preparing relevant records and correspondence
- Maintain accurate files and ensure all assignments are completed within applicable deadlines
- Independently manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
Qualifications- Two or more years of experience with tax return preparation, preferably involving fiduciary, estate, gift, or individual taxation
- Familiarity with Forms 1041, 706, 709, and 1040; exposure to business returns is helpful
- Experience using professional tax preparation software and Microsoft Excel
- Working knowledge of federal and state tax regulations
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys, clients, and staff
- Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline is helpful but not required
- Paralegal Certificate not required; tax professionals with relevant experience will be considered, including Tax Manager candidates.
- Prior law firm experience and exposure to estate and trust matters strongly preferred.
Anticipated Salary range: $90K to $120K
