Construction Superintendent - MEP / Large-Scale Projects

About the Opportunity
Talent Solutions Group is recruiting experienced Construction Superintendents for a leading national construction organization managing major, multiyear infrastructure and energy modernization projects in Washington, DC.
These projects involve large commercial and institutional buildings, including facilities exceeding 1 million square feet, with significant mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), HVAC, and energy infrastructure improvements.
We are looking for hands-on construction leaders with strong general contractor experience who can oversee complex field operations, manage subcontractors, and deliver high-quality construction projects.
This is a construction superintendent position, not an owner's representative or facilities management role.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily construction operations, subcontractors, site logistics, and project schedules.
- Oversee complex MEP installations, including HVAC, mechanical, electrical, building controls, and related infrastructure.
- Manage subcontractor performance, manpower planning, construction sequencing, and quality control.
- Lead jobsite safety programs and ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
- Review construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, and installation plans.
- Identify and resolve field conflicts in coordination with engineering and design teams.
- Assist with subcontractor selection, bidding, procurement, and equipment delivery.
- Coordinate equipment startup, functional testing, commissioning, and project closeout.
- Develop and manage construction schedules, punch lists, and project documentation.
- Maintain effective relationships with project teams, subcontractors, and government stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of mechanical/electrical construction experience, including significant field supervision responsibilities.
- Strong general contractor (GC) background on large commercial, institutional, or complex construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing MEP subcontractors and installations on large-scale projects.
- Proven experience overseeing site safety, subcontractor performance, construction quality, and project schedules.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Experience coordinating HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and controls subcontractors.
- Familiarity with Procore or comparable construction management software.
- Must be able to work on-site in Washington, DC, on a daily basis.
- Must be eligible to obtain the federal/government security clearance required for assigned projects.
- Ability to accommodate occasional night shifts or adjusted working hours based on project requirements.
Candidates whose backgrounds are primarily owner's representative, consulting, or facilities management without direct GC construction supervision experience are not a fit.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience with energy efficiency, energy performance contracting (EPC), or major building modernization projects.
- Experience with large MEP budgets, subcontract negotiations, and procurement.
- Experience commissioning complex HVAC, electrical, and building automation systems.
- OSHA-30 certification.
- Experience working on federal or government construction projects.
