BayLand Consultants & Designers, Inc. (BayLand) has an immediate opening for a Survey Technician to provide services as an Instrument Operator to support our in-house survey capabilities for a growing and diverse workload of water resources projects.
Experience with using Trimble Robotic Total Station, Trimble GPS, and Trimble Business Center is desired. High school diploma, community college courses/survey classes, and 0-1 year of experience preferred. Will train motivated individual. This position is offering a $1,000 sign-on bonus to our newest team member!
Responsibilities and Duties
- Utilize various electronic and survey equipment to assist in determining location and elevations of various features
- Perform construction stakeout
- Cut and clear brush and trees from line of survey with machete, brush hook or chain saw
- Carry instruments, field equipment, hammers, stakes, nails, etc.
- Assist with hydrographic surveys
- Keep survey crew vehicle supplied with equipment; clean and organize vehicle
- Carry out instructions and tasks assigned by Party Chief
Job Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors with occasional extended hours
- Willing to work locally or travel within the state of Maryland
- Must have an insurable driving record.
- High school diploma with 1 year of experience, or community college courses/survey classes (will train motivated individual)
Desired Skills
- Strong writing skills and use of basic Microsoft Office tools including Word, Outlooks and Excel.
- Experience with using Trimble Robotic Total Station, Trimble GPS, and Trimble Business Center
