Job Description

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Metal Finisher to join our manufacturing team at UHI in Sterling Heights, MI. The ideal candidate will have experience working with metal components in a manufacturing or automotive environment.

This position involves grinding, sanding, deburring, polishing, and finishing metal parts to ensure they meet company quality standards and customer specifications.

Job Responsibilities

• Grind, sand, deburr, and polish metal parts to achieve the required finish.
• Remove sharp edges, burrs, weld marks, and other imperfections from metal components.
• Operate hand grinders, angle grinders, sanders, and other metal-finishing equipment.
• Inspect finished parts for defects, scratches, rough edges, and other quality concerns.
• Read and follow work instructions, production specifications, and quality standards.
• Prepare metal components for additional manufacturing processes, assembly, or shipment.
• Use hand tools and measuring equipment to ensure parts meet specifications.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Follow all company safety procedures and properly wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Meet daily production goals while maintaining quality and accuracy.
• Assist with other manufacturing and production duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous metal-finishing, grinding, deburring, or manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience using hand grinders, power tools, or sanding equipment.
• Familiarity with automotive metal components, steel, or aluminum preferred.
• Ability to identify surface imperfections and perform quality inspections.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to lift and handle metal components safely.
• Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Metal polishing and surface finishing
• Automotive manufacturing
• Metal fabrication
• Welding cleanup and weld finishing
• Use of pneumatic and electric hand tools
• Quality inspection of metal components

Work Environment

This position is located in an industrial manufacturing facility. Employees may work around machinery, metal components, noise, and grinding equipment. Required PPE may include safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots.
