Job Description:
Perform complex diagnostics and repair work on experimental, prototype, and production vehicles, components and equipment following established standards, specifications, and instructions.
Work independently, under general guidance from supervision and/or customers.
May be required to travel (less than 10%).
The Durability Department is responsible for in-market durability and corrosion test of all Client models sold in the North American market using internally developed objective and subjective test modes aligned to the North American environment and customer expectations.
Durability test activity supports corporate goals of maintaining safety, improving customer satisfaction, reducing warranty costs, and enhancing the public image of HMG products in the groups largest sales market.
What You Will Bring To The Role:
Automotive technician certification: ASE Master technician preferred, or some combination of ASE and structured manufacturer/dealership training.
Associates degree in a mechanical or electrical field preferred; or a combination of education and on-the-job work experience including two years working specifically in automotive repair.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of complex mechanical, electrical, and automotive concepts
Thorough knowledge and ability to read complex engineering drawings.
Ability to install and operate data acquisition equipment and sensors.
Analytical ability to resolve complex problems.
Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
Good basic math and writing skills including spelling and grammar.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills including basic Microsoft Office tools and database entry.
Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with a team
Able to work in a culturally diverse team environment
Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
Job requires walking, standing, lifting, and bending for approximately 6 8 hours on a daily basis
What You Will Do:
Perform highly complex mechanical and/or electrical diagnostics and repair on vehicles, systems and components as directed.
Perform highly complex vehicle troubleshooting and diagnostics to isolate difficult vehicle issues, including the use of basic diagnostic equipment.
Develop special purpose instrumentation and/or shop or laboratory test equipment
Provide systematic vehicle tear down as directed.
Install, operate and maintain shop or laboratory test equipment and instrumentation.
Accurately and completely document work all performed.
Maintain good housekeeping and safety practices. Use all hand and power tools appropriately and safely.
Coordinate and exchange findings with engineers/customers.
Recommend revisions to product or component design.
