Are you an experienced chef who enjoys running a busy kitchen, creating quality food and keeping service running smoothly?
We're looking for an experienced Café Chef to join our team and take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the kitchen. This is a hands-on role for someone who combines strong cooking skills with organization, leadership and high standards.
The Role
You'll work closely with the wider kitchen and catering team to deliver consistently high-quality food while managing stock, food preparation, presentation and kitchen standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and cooking dishes to established recipes and standards
- Maintaining excellent food quality, presentation and portion control
- Supporting menu and product development
- Managing stock levels, deliveries, rotation and waste
- Assisting with stock counts and inventory control
- Helping coordinate the kitchen team during service
- Supporting catering events and larger functions
- Maintaining a clean, safe and well-organized kitchen
- Ensuring food safety, health and safety procedures are followed
- Communicating effectively with chefs, stewards and the wider team
What We're Looking For
You must have either:
- At least 3 years of previous Café Chef experience, or
- At least 4 years of Sous Chef experience within a high-volume operation
You should also have:
- Previous supervisory experience in a busy commercial kitchen
- Experience with menu or product development
- Experience supporting large events or catering functions
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Good communication and guest service skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A valid California Food Handler Card
- ServSafe Manager Certification
The role involves prolonged standing and walking, as well as regularly lifting, pushing and pulling kitchen and catering equipment.
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. The employee is expected to work in other areas of the operation when needed to assist operations to perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job description
