General Surgeon Job Requirements
- Physician degree (MD)
- Board certification in General Surgery required
- At least 1 year of General Surgery experience required
- Current ACLS certification required
- Demonstrated proficiency in adult General Surgery
- Experience with laparoscopic procedures, including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, and hernioplasty
- Active medical licensure and eligibility to practice in Texas
General Surgery Physician Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage approximately 10 patient encounters per shift
- Provide comprehensive adult General Surgery consultation and treatment
- Perform required laparoscopic procedures, including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, and hernioplasty
- Provide perioperative care and collaborate with the multidisciplinary surgical team
- Support emergency and acute surgical needs within a Level III trauma environment
- Perform additional procedures based on experience and clinical need, with Nissen fundoplication, D&C, upper GI endoscopy, and colonoscopy experience preferred
