Overview As Director of Accounting you will lead the monthly close and financial reporting for a growing real estate investment portfolio. You will manage cross-entity accounting processes, partner with external stakeholders, and drive accurate fund-level visibility. This role combines hands-on oversight with investor-facing support, in a fully remote setting within Central or Eastern time zones. You will shape reporting workflows and collaborate with the controller to support the company's growth and performance goals.
Responsibilities- Direct the monthly close across multiple entities, assets, and investment vehicles ensuring deadlines and accuracy
- Prepare and post accounting entries (accruals, prepaids, month-end adjustments) for complete financial reporting
- Produce recurring financial packages and analyze results to reflect operating and investment activity
- Evaluate balance sheet and income statement data, investigate variances, and resolve reporting issues
- Reconcile bank and key accounts to support reliable records and timely closings
- Coordinate with external partners and stakeholders for information gathering and investor communications
- Utilize Yardi Voyager and advanced spreadsheet tools to maintain records, organize data, and improve workflow
- Collaborate with the controller and team on ad hoc analyses and growth-related projects
Key requirements- Experience leading accounting for a portfolio of entities in real estate/investment environment
- Comfort with remote work and time zone alignment (Central or Eastern)
- Strong month-end close, financial reporting, and variance analysis skills
- Proficiency with Yardi Voyager and advanced spreadsheets
- Ability to manage multiple entities and fast-paced environment
