Job description

Overview

In this role you help advance bp/bpx's methane and carbon initiatives through emissions forecasting, accounting, and certification program coordination. You'll improve data quality, produce transparent reporting, and support air engineering duties. You will work across environmental, engineering, operations, and digital teams to turn data into practical, scalable solutions and narratives that drive emissions reductions and compliance. This is a chance to impact both low-carbon strategy and traditional environmental engineering in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities
  • Lead greenhouse gas forecasting for recurring planning and reporting cycles
  • Coordinate methane certification and assurance activities with internal teams and external reviewers
  • Create clear narratives and recommendations on methane management and emissions performance
  • Extract insights from data, perform quality checks, analyze trends, and maintain documentation
  • Partner with environmental, engineering, operations, and digital teams to define data needs and translate requirements into solutions
  • Simplify workflows, strengthen data governance, standardize processes, and reduce manual effort
  • Provide multi-functional support in air quality compliance and reporting as needed
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years in environmental, sustainability, or engineering roles with emphasis on air quality in oil and gas
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to translate technical info into narratives
  • Statistical and analytical thinking for evaluating datasets and identifying trends
  • Pattern recognition and problem solving to connect data insights to operations
  • Digital and data collaboration skills to work with IT/data teams
  • Strategic awareness of how data/tools support methane and carbon reduction goals
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder messaging
