Executive Director, Data Governance Lead

Overview

In this role, you lead the governance strategy for the Enterprise Data Platform and drive trusted, secure, and compliant data across the EDP. You partner with business and tech stakeholders to implement governance standards, controls, and operating models. You'll monitor compliance, define ownership and data quality practices, and advance governance capabilities through cross-functional collaboration. This is a high-impact, strategic position at a Fortune 200 company focused on innovation and regulatory alignment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the data governance program implementation across the EDP ecosystem
  • Collaborate with business and IT to define and operationalize data policies, standards, and privacy controls
  • Monitor policy compliance through audits and metrics across the EDP ecosystem
  • Create, implement, and monitor governance metrics
  • Build and maintain relationships to align objectives across the organization
  • Explain complex concepts and drive consensus to enable innovation
  • Develop frameworks to classify data, ownership, quality, metadata, lifecycle, and access controls
  • Operate in an Agile environment, prioritizing needs, milestones, and risk
  • Lead cross-functional projects to adopt governance standards and security/compliance requirements
  • Perform capacity planning and produce technical diagrams/layouts
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or equivalent education/experience
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise-level data governance, data management or related field
  • 4+ years of experience managing enterprise initiatives, teams, and engineering solutions
  • Experience aligning solutions with business goals
  • Advanced interpersonal skills and consensus-building
  • Excellent written and verbal communication to engage and influence stakeholders
  • Proactive, self-starter with strong project management and multi-tasking abilities
  • Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, policies, standards programs and their practical implementation
  • Knowledge of data privacy, security, lifecycle management, and data quality best practices
  • Experience defining data policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines
