Overview

As a Power Sector Business Development Leader, you drive growth and market presence in the Northwest, leveraging your engineering and market insight to align HDR's capabilities with utilities and developers. You'll lead major pursuits, shape regional strategy, and mentor teams to enhance client focus. This role blends leadership, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration to advance energy transformation and HDR's influence in the Northwest.

Responsibilities
  • Lead strategic growth to expand HDR's regional market share and revenue in the Northwest (WA, AK, OR, ID, MT)
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with utilities and power developers, understanding goals and contracts
  • Lead major pursuits, develop winning strategies, and guide proposal efforts
  • Collaborate with market and operations leadership to define and execute regional strategic plans
  • Mentor and train teams to mature business development capabilities and client focus
  • Stay informed on market trends and client needs; align resources with growth opportunities in partnership with operations
Key requirements
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in the power market with a strong track record in client development and strategic leadership
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, sciences, business, marketing, or related field
  • Proven success in leading major BD efforts and building long-term client relationships
  • Deep understanding of the Northwest energy market
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
  • Willingness to travel across the region
  • Experience in growing programs in new or highly competitive markets
  • Experience in winning high-value contracts in the A/E/C industry
  • Experience in writing compelling content based on information from technical staff
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication and collaboration
