Overview

As Principal HR Generalist, you lead end-to-end HR operations for a project workforce, from onboarding to offboarding, ensuring policy compliance and accurate data. You serve as the on-site senior operational authority, driving efficient execution and escalation of strategic matters at the project level. You will partner with cross-functional teams to support performance, mobility, rewards, and employee relations in a fast-paced, on-site environment. This role contributes to safe, sustainable project delivery in the energy sector.

Responsibilities
  • Own performance management execution for project-based employees, ensuring timelines, system readiness, and data accuracy
  • Facilitate calibration and talent reviews and resolve complex issues within policy
  • Lead Inclusion & Belonging initiatives at the site and track participation
  • Support project hiring, onboarding readiness, and mobility coordination with Talent Acquisition
  • Independently manage employee relations cases and advise managers on policies
  • Administer compensation and benefits within defined frameworks and coordinate with Total Rewards COE
  • Coordinate project mobility activities (relocation, travel, assignment docs) and ensure compliance
  • Produce and validate HR reports, maintain data accuracy for project workforce metrics
  • Support training administration and coordinate with L&D COE for site needs
  • Provide guidance to HR Generalists on site and align with enterprise standards
  • Lead operational problem-solving to address workforce issues affecting project delivery
  • Ensure HR systems, data governance, audit readiness, and local compliance
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience
  • 8+ years of HR generalist or operational HR experience, preferably in project-based or EPC environments
  • Strong knowledge of HR policies, lifecycle processes, and HR systems
  • Ability to operate independently in fast-paced, on-site settings
  • Experience managing complex, high-volume HR operations
  • Strong judgment and problem-solving within policy frameworks
  • Ability to build effective relationships with project leadership and employees
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with discretion
