Construction Project Engineer Senior

Overview

In this role, you will lead and oversee construction projects within the Facilities Planning and Development team to deliver safe, functional healthcare facilities. You will shape project scopes, budgets, and schedules, coordinate with departments, and ensure compliance with codes and standards. This position supports the mission to provide world-class facilities that enable excellent patient care, education, and research. You will work with cross-functional partners to manage deactivation, activation, and post-construction activities, delivering on-time, cost-conscious projects with strong documentation and communication.

Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze facility improvements, upgrades, repairs, and alterations
  • Develop project scopes, schedules/milestones, and budgets
  • Oversee project delivery for owned and leased facilities to ensure compliance with guidelines
  • Direct and monitor programming, design development, construction documents, and bidding
  • Manage deactivation, construction, and activation activities
  • Schedule systems installations, inspections, and post-construction services
  • Coordinate furniture, fixtures, and equipment with vendors
  • Serve as liaison with departments to align projects with needs
  • Maintain architectural/construction guidelines and cost database
  • Research materials and vendors, stay updated on sustainability
  • Advise leadership and partners on status, opportunities, and risks
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and correspondence for decision-making
  • Ensure project records/as-builts are archived and shared
  • Maintain compliance with codes, life safety, ADA, and infection control
Key requirements
  • 7-10 years of experience in construction management/healthcare or project management
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (ABET-accredited) or Architecture degree
  • Experience with design and construction of healthcare facilities
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Understanding of building codes and healthcare construction requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Autodesk AutoCAD
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project and Bluebeam
