Overview As Senior Director, Veterinary Services, you lead veterinary care and clinical case management at the BRC while guiding shelter medicine expertise across external partners. You will co-lead with cross-functional teams to integrate medical and behavioral rehabilitation goals, shaping high-quality care for at-risk dogs and confidentially mentoring shelter professionals. You'll influence humane, trauma-informed practices and drive population health strategies. Responsibilities- Oversee veterinary care, clinical case management, and population health for BRC dogs
- Lead two Managers, Veterinary Services; collaborate with behavior and operations leaders
- Provide shelter medicine expertise externally through consultation and training
- Conduct daily rounds and ensure timely, humane treatment and quarantine protocols
- Supervise record reviews, inclusion criteria for transport, and licensure/compliance
- Manage euthanasia decisions with compassionate, low-stress procedures
- Maintain communication with ASPCA veterinary leadership to align protocols and trainings
- Lead staff development, recruitment, onboarding, and performance management
- Promote trauma-informed communication and low-stress handling across teams
- Support program strategy, change management, and cross-department collaboration
- Ensure ongoing education, continuing education, and compliance with safety and legal standards
- Deliver mentorship and training to shelter medicine residents and professionals
Key requirements- High level knowledge and experience in shelter medicine and population health
