Overview As Finance Director at USC, you will provide CFO-level financial reporting and strategic interpretation of hospital performance for a $375M net revenue community hospital. You will lead budgeting, performance cadence, and service line analysis to drive financial accountability across nursing and ancillary departments. You will translate complex data into actionable insights for executive and board updates, shaping capital planning and system-wide reporting initiatives. This is a high-impact role guiding decision support, cost accounting, and strategic initiatives within a collaborative health system.
Responsibilities- Provide CFO-level financial reporting and interpretation of hospital performance including MOR, volume/revenue trends, and service line results
- Coordinate annual hospital budget process from planning to executive presentation
- Train Finance staff and department managers to use budget system capabilities
- Own monthly financial performance cadence and translate performance issues into corrective action plans
- Oversee productivity and labor analytics to drive financial accountability across departments
- Lead decision support and cost accounting analysis including service line profitability and payer contract modeling, leveraging Strata Decision Support
- Lead executive service line analyses and growth planning with proformas for new/expanded services
- Educate department managers to perform in-depth financial analysis for existing and proposed activities
- Develop and modify reporting systems with IS for ongoing and ad-hoc case management reporting
- Develop nursing and ancillary staffing models and cost/savings scenarios
- Collaborate on capital budgeting and tracking of commitments and expenditures
- Support revenue cycle and payer analytics including denials, pre-authorization trends, and contract impact analysis
- Support CDM/pricing analyses including market alignment and net revenue neutrality scenarios
- Oversee Vizient benchmarking and integration into budget planning and MOR discussions
- Provide leadership and policy guidance, orienting staff and automating standard reports
- Supervise finance staff in developing reporting tools for internal and external reporting
- Develop major tools to automate weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting
- Lead enterprise-facing projects including health system integration and executive advisory scope
- Participate in system-wide financial reporting platform transitions
Key requirements- Bachelor in Accounting
- Minimum of four (4) years in hospital finance management
