Overview In this Senior Consultant role, you help employer and public-sector plan sponsors optimize pharmacy benefits through PBM strategy, contracting, and cost management. You will integrate pharmacy benefits expertise with broader health and group benefits consulting to guide decisions and program implementations. You'll work with cross-functional teams to analyze claims and design plan improvements, while mentoring junior staff. This opportunity combines deep PBM mastery with strategic advisory to shape client benefits in a large consulting environment.
Responsibilities- Evaluate PBM contracts, deal terms, pricing proposals, performance guarantees, and pricing arrangements
- Lead or support PBM and health and welfare benefit RFPs, including pricing analysis, vendor evaluation, negotiation, and implementation
- Analyze pharmacy claims, utilization, and financial data; prepare self-insured financial projections; support renewal decisions on premiums, employee contributions, and admin fees
- Develop health and group benefits strategies, plan design recommendations, benchmarking analyses, and guidance on regulatory developments and compliance deadlines
- Manage client projects and workstreams; prepare and present client-ready reports; collaborate with HR teams; mentor junior team members
Key requirements- 5+ years of consulting or brokerage experience supporting U.S. health and welfare benefits programs
- 5+ years of experience leading or supporting PBM RFPs with pricing analysis and vendor evaluation
- 5 years' experience analyzing PBM contract financial components and underwriting beyond basic model use
- 2 years of experience managing multiple concurrent client projects
- Bachelor's degree
- Ability to travel 0-30%
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
