Overview In this role you will drive the design, development, and launch of busway and power distribution products that meet market needs and safety standards. You will work within a cross-functional team to define electrical specs, model performance, and support certification testing. The role emphasizes power distribution expertise, thermal and electrical analysis, and collaboration with suppliers and mechanical engineers. You will contribute to innovative product development and ensure alignment with Vertiv's mission to enable vital applications to run reliably. Responsibilities- Define electrical specifications and features while meeting safety and regulatory standards
- Develop designs per UL 857 and IEC 61439, including ratings and thermal performance
- Perform electrical calculations and simulations (voltage drop, impedance, temperature rise, losses, efficiencies, short-circuit)
- Support 3D/2D design efforts with the team
- Collaborate with external suppliers to source busbars, insulators, connectors, conductors
- Adhere to NPDI process and document task completion
- Prototype build and validate electrical performance
- Support thermal, short-circuit, and dielectric testing for development and certification
- Engage in DFMEA and product risk assessment
- Coordinate with mechanical engineers on electrical diagrams and documentation
- Provide customer-facing electrical engineering support for technical issues
- Organize drawings and test reports for reference
- Follow Engineering Change process for existing products
- Demonstrate ethics and integrity

Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related discipline
- Fundamental understanding of power distribution principles (voltage, current, impedance, power factor, thermal management)
- Knowledge of electrical codes and standards (NEC, UL, IEC)
- Familiarity with 3D/2D modeling tools (SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, or equivalent)
- Proficiency in PLM software
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Action- and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Self-motivated, able to work independently or in a team
- 2+ years of R&D or product development experience in power distribution, switchgear, or electrical equipment manufacturing
- Experience with electrical system design, conductor sizing, and thermal analysis
- Knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, and SOP preparation
- Experience coordinating product testing and certification with third-party labs (UL, CSA, or equivalent)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Smartsheet
