Overview

In this role you will shape economics and finance insights for Deloitte Insights, collaborating with economists, researchers, and multimedia teams to turn complex data into credible, accessible stories. You drive editorial rigor, ensure accuracy, and guide projects from concept to publication across reports, articles, infographics, and videos. You evaluate insights for novelty and audience fit in the AI era, while advising on the best storytelling approach and content formats. You lead and mentor editors, coordinate cross functional teams, and uphold Deloitte's standards for high quality thought leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Strategize, develop, and execute research and insights stories on prioritized topics
  • Maintain intellectual rigor by verifying data sources, methodology, and conclusions
  • Evaluate project fit and novelty in the generative AI era and align with audience needs
  • Advise on storytelling approaches and content types across multimedia formats
  • Serve as ghostwriter, editor, infographic copywriter, or scriptwriter as needed
  • Improve authors' clarity while preserving their voice and messaging objectives
  • Champion business audiences and steward projects through the full content development process
  • Edit for factual accuracy, grammar, readability, and SEO/GEO best practices
  • Coach content creators on language, writing style, and production processes
  • Lead or contribute to team initiatives on storytelling innovation and process improvement
  • Guide junior editors and review their work
Key requirements
  • Unknown
  • Minimum 10 years of writing, editing, and copyediting in American English (business journalism preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Deep experience editing economics and finance articles and research reports
  • Exceptional editing/copyediting skills and mastery of US English, AP style
  • Excellent writing and oral communication; ability to translate complex concepts clearly
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to clarify a story's main message
  • Journalist's instinct for fact-checking and skeptical analysis of data/methodology
  • Audience-focused perspective on content projects
  • Versatile editing and writing skills across formats from headlines to long-form reports
  • Experience creating multimedia content
  • Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, CMS, and tools like Workfront and Microsoft Teams; knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with quick turnarounds
  • Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
