Overview

In this role you guide the business on product development and commercial, regulatory, IP, privacy, and contracting aspects for CMS offerings. You will partner with cross-functional teams across regions to align legal advice with business goals and ensure consistent approaches. You'll manage complex regulatory considerations and coordinate external counsel to deliver timely, high-quality work. This position blends legal strategy with practical business execution in a fast-paced payments environment.

Responsibilities
  • Advise business teams to shape product and service offerings while aligning with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Counsel on development, deployment, and commercial implications for products and marketing materials
  • Lead reviews of product-related marketing, PR, and corporate communications
  • Manage regulatory monitoring and assess impact of regulatory changes on Visa and partners
  • Collaborate with regional and global legal/business teams to standardize approaches worldwide
  • Supervise outside counsel to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality work product
  • Coordinate governance of complex initiatives affecting U.S. and international operations
Key requirements
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's or 0+ years with PhD or 2 years with an Advanced degree (per job ad)
  • Active law license to practice in the applicable state or eligibility to be in-house counsel
  • Post-JD experience in payments, financial services, technology, or fintech
  • Strong transactional background drafting and negotiating commercial agreements
  • Experience with financial regulation and privacy/competition laws
  • Ability to work independently and with clients at all levels; strong business acumen
  • Proven ability to balance legal risk with business goals in a global context
  • Experience coordinating with in-house and external counsel
